Due to Coronavirus threat, the romanian authorities decided to suspend any kind of sport activities. In this major situation, the event will be postponed. The reschedule will be announced aT the end of March. We apologize for this situation. The registration will remain open!
Greetings and welcome to our event in Bucharest, Romania! This tournament is OPEN for all countries.
The first WBJJA competition of the year 2020, under the slogan "Unlimited Submissions" will have a total prize fund of 1500 euros in money and / or products, offered to the first 5 in the ranking in 2020 for seniors and children. Also, the academies ranked in the top 5, both children and seniors, after this event will also be rewarded.
CHAPTER 1 - LOCATION / VENUE / ACCOMODATION FACILITY
Location: Bucharest, Romania
Venue: Hotel Complex Silva / Sala Polivalenta ( Silva Polivalent Hall)

The venue is near Near International Airport "Henri Coanda" (around 20 km)

CHAPTER 2 - COMPETITION
This is a one-day event, scheduled for the 15th of March 2020.

The doors are opening starting from 08:30 AM and the event begins at 9:30 AM.
Art.1 2020 WBJJA SENIORS EUROPEAN OPEN CUP EVENT
This championship is organized by the World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association in collaboration with AGON SPORTS CLUB ASSOCIATION.
Art.2 TOURNAMENT FORMAT
2.1. The tournament will be pyramidal, the participants will be selected randomly, by the Smoothcomp platform according to their registered category;
2.2. The tournament will have matches for the Gi and No-Gi division;
2.3. We apply the regular IBJJF score system apart from a few small changes that will be displayed on this page at a later date;
2.4. Matches for men and women will take place at the same time;
2.5. Each division has weight and belts;
2.6. Each match allows a person (the coach) to instruct his athlete on the mattress;
2.7. The coach must be WBJJA approved;
2.8. Non-competitors are not allowed in the contest area;
2.9. Each match will be judged by an official WBJJA referee (World Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Association) following the classic submission - grappling rules, like IBJJF.
Art.3 OFFICIAL REFEREES
The official list of referees will be displayed on the event page.
4.1. We will place each competitor according to their belt, age category, and weight category;
4.3. The registration at OPEN can take place at the same time as the registration for the category. There will be no registration for the OPEN category during competition time.
Art. 5. MEDALS AND RECOGNITION OF MERITS
5.1. The winners of each pyramid will receive the Gold medal and 90 points.
5.2. The second place will be awarded the Silver medal and 30 points;
5.3. The athletes placed in third and fourth place will receive both Bronze medals and 10 points;
5.4. The athletes who won by submission will take extra one point;
5.5. Competitors will be able to take pictures or download the photos made by our professionals on the spot (hopefully with medals);
5.6. We will quantify the score earned by participating in the tournament for each competitor and team;
5.7. This ranking will be available on your personal Smoothcomp profile and will be classified over seasonal and overall periods for Fighters and Academy.
If the athlete is alone in the category, he will not receive a medal.
6.1. The rankings of the competitors are individual or per academy (or affiliates) and can be for each season or overall as well as global or continental.
Art.7 FREE AVAILABLE SERVICES
7.1. Two Professional Photographers;
7.2. Medical teams;
7.3. One warming up mattress and 2 - 4 competition surfaces.
Art.8 EVENT VOLUNTEERING
8.1. Tasks will be easy and will not take more than 2-3 hours (setting up competition areas, sports adverts, water delivery, etc.);
8.2. If you want to volunteer as a referee or engage in more time-consuming and/or complicated tasks, please contact us before the event at [email protected] We can provide free meals and/or pay.
9.1. Athletes and coaches must always have an identification document with a recent photo of themselves. These may be required by referees or competition staff;
9.2. The general rules follow the traditional BJJ format, like IBJJF (http://ibjjf.com/rules) with some small changes that will be displayed on this page.
Art.10 REGISTRATION FORMALITIES
10.1. Athletes must register for each weight and age division in which they wish to take part;
10.2. Pre-registration required. We do not accept on-site registration or unfinished registrations before the registration deadline (March 10th, 2020).
Art.11 CHANGE OF DIVISIONS
11.1. After the registration is complete, you may continue to make changes to the category in which you have registered until the last day of the changeover deadline (March 10th, 2020, 23:59);
11.2. You can adjust the registration details on your Smoothcomp account;
11.3. After the registration deadline has expired, your details can no longer be changed;
11.4. WBJJA can not guarantee that each competitor will have an opponent on the category to which he has entered, but makes every effort that each participant has a match, which is why we reserve the right to allocate you to another reasonable division if after the deadline you are alone in the division, as follows:
Competitors without an opponent will automatically be registered to their respective next higher belt division, based on weight and age criteria, until a suitable opponent will be found or until the end of the competition.
ART.12 PARTICIPATION AND FEES
12.1. Please reserve your place in the competition in advance for a lower fee.
12.2. If payments are made closer to the closing date, the participation fee will be higher.
- Early registrations - 25 EURO / division - until February 10th, 23:59;
- Normal registration - 40 EURO / division- until February 29th, 23:59;
- Late registration - 55 EURO / division - until March 10 th, 23:59
- Open Class fee - 10 EURO
12.4. For a good organization, the coaches have to be registered. They will be marked with a distinctive wristband.
12.5. The fee registration for coaches is 5 euro.
12.6. Entrance fee for viewers: 5 euros or equivalent in Romanian currency.
12.7. Payment must be made before the deadline (March 10th, 2020) online via the Smoothcomp platform.
Art.13 RETURN POLICY OF THE REGISTRATION TAX
13.1. You will be refunded 100 % of the registration fee only for medical reasons.
13.2. The refund will be made 30 days after the competition ends.
13.3. The registration fee will not be refunded if you do not fit within the weight category you have chosen or if you are not present at the competition area when the match begins;
13.4. All return claims have a deadline of March 10th, 2020. If your scheduled matches are unable to take place for reasons beyond our control (your scheduled competitor withdraws from registration after the closing date, injuries, etc.), we will grant you free participation for the next event we will organize;
13.5. Matches that can not occur due to disqualification, as set out in the Competition Rules, do not entitle participants to claim refunds.
Art.14 TRACKING OF MATCH PLANIFICATION
14.1. You can watch real-time match planning by following our Smoothcomp platform;
14.2 During the tournament you can check the matches that are held and the next two matches that follow, on the main display screen in the hall;
14.3. There will also be verbal announcements for matches (the one starting, on which surface, as well as the next two matches);
14.4. One minute is allocated for athletes to present themselves on their designated mat, at the beginning of the match;
14.5. Five minutes are allocated for athletes to resolve any equipment or personal issues that may be reported by tournament staff;
15.1. Each competitor must be within the weight limit he chose at the time of the check-in or when he enters the competition;
15.2. This is the only time we carry out the weighing and is valid for the rest of the competition;
Art.16 MEDICAL PROBLEMS
16.1. It is the responsibility of each athlete to ensure that he/she is medically fit, is up to date with medical check-ups and has the permission of a sports physician to participate in the tournament. For minors, the responsibility lies with the parent/guardian or coach accompanying him/her;
16.2. On-site, there will be a team of doctors and paramedics for first aid and possible tour-related injuries;
16.3. The organizer will not be able to treat other conditions that are not related to an accident during the tournament (such as headaches or stomachaches).
16.4. Consequently, each team member must take the necessary medical measures to be able to participate in safety and comfort at the sporting competition;
16.5. Insurance for any type of injury is the responsibility of each sportsman/parent/coach.
